Griselda Sanderson will be performing alongside poet Alice Oswald at Dartington International Summer School this year in the first week of August. The two worked together on Alice’s poem ‘Tithonus: 46 minutes in the life of the Dawn’ to create a live performance that incorporated poetry and music. The debut performance of the piece took place at the South Bank’s Festival of Literature in October 2014 to great critical acclaim. A recorded version was broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in December. The musical soundscape that accompanies the spoken word is played on the nyckelharpa, a sixteen-stringed bowed keyed fiddle originally from Sweden. Griselda adds effects to create an atmospheric setting for the words, and there is some wonderful live interaction between the performers in this most unusual collaboration.
