abc Tunes

ABC Tunes
On this page are over 40 jigs, reels, strathspeys, hornpipes
and airs. You need to be able to read abc files or to
have a program that can convert them to sound or staff
notation, such as Barfly, in order to get the benefit
of this page. abc is an ASCII (American Standard Code
for Information Interchange) format language. It was devised
by Chris Walshaw and went online in 1991. Many traditional
musicians use it as it is ideally suited for a melody-based
music and is easy to learn. The file sizes are small and
easy to send via e-mail.
